The invisible infrastructure of global connectivity

SJC2 (Southeast Asia-Japan Cable 2) is the most powerful intra-Asian submarine cable system of the current generation. It connects Singapore with Japan via Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and China and, at 144 Tbit/s, offers five times the capacity of its predecessor SJC. The cable went into operation in July 2025. SJC2 sets new standards for intra-Asian data traffic with eight fiber pairs and 400 Gbps DWDM technology. It also opens up Cambodia for the first time with its own submarine cable landing point, significantly improving the connectivity infrastructure of the entire ASEAN region.

Route & connection

SJC2 connects Singapore with Shima (Japan) via Vietnam, Cambodia, Songkhla (Thailand), Hong Kong, Toucheng (Taiwan), Geoje (South Korea) and several landing points in China. In total, the system comprises eleven cable landing stations in nine countries and territories. The total length is around 10,500 kilometers
