The invisible infrastructure of global connectivity

The EASSY (East African Submarine System) submarine cable is the central cable system for digitally connecting East Africa to the rest of the world. With landing points in 21 countries along the East African coast, EASSY is the primary international cable connection for many of these markets and plays a key role in the digital development of one of the fastest growing regions in the world. As a joint project of a broad consortium of African and international telecommunication companies, EASSY stands for reliable and scalable connectivity along the entire East African coast. Submarine cables like EASSY form the invisible foundation of global data traffic, with over 99% of international data flowing through them rather than through satellites or the cloud.

Route & connection

EASSY connects Djibouti in the north with South Africa in the south and runs along the entire East African coast. Along the route, the cable ends up in Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Madagascar, the Comoros, Mayotte and South Africa. With a total length of around 10,000 kilometers, EASSY is the most comprehensive cable system for the digital development of the East African coast and connects markets that are becoming increasingly strategically important for international companies.
