The invisible infrastructure of global connectivity

The PEACE Cable submarine cable is a modern cable system that connects Europe, the Middle East, East Africa and Asia on a single continuous route. As one of the first major submarine cable projects with significant Chinese involvement, PEACE Cable stands for the growing global networking of emerging markets along the digital Silk Road. With landing points in previously underserved regions such as Pakistan and East Africa, PEACE Cable is opening up new connectivity corridors that are becoming increasingly important for international companies. Submarine cables such as PEACE Cable form the invisible foundation of global data traffic, as over 99% of international data flows through them rather than through satellites or the cloud.

Route & connection

PEACE Cable connects China (Gwadar) and Pakistan with Djibouti, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa in the East African corridor and with Egypt, France and the United Kingdom in the European branch. This unique routing makes PEACE Cable one of the few cable systems to bring East Africa, Pakistan and Europe together on a single connection. With a total length of around 15,000 kilometers, PEACE Cable is one of the longer cable systems in the Indian Ocean and East African region.

Technology & capacity

PEACE Cable uses the latest fiber optic technology and offers a capacity of up to 16 Tbit/s, which meets the growing requirements of the connected markets and is specifically designed to open up previously underserved regions. Essentially, these are the technological features:

  1. Two separate cable branches: PEACE Cable has an East African and a European branch, allowing flexible use of capacity depending on route requirements.
  2. Strategic landing points: The landing points in Pakistan, Djibouti, Kenya and Tanzania open up markets that were previously only connected to the global submarine cable network to a limited extent.
  3. The latest generation of fiber optic technology for stable transmission quality over the entire cable length in the Indian Ocean.
