Fast data connections for companies

Speed determines success

Why fast data connections are essential for companies

With the global increase in data volumes and more and more networked devices, the demands on networks are rising rapidly. Companies need high-performance WAN and fiber optic solutions to ensure growth and cloud usage.

The question: Is your network ready for the growing data volumes of the coming years?

The volume of data will continue to increase over the next few years. Analysts are certain that 2017 will once again be the year of data. The Gartner predictions for 2016 have come true. Back then, the experts predicted a daily data volume of 2.5 trillion gigabytes and 6.4 billion end devices connected via the internet worldwide. In 2020, the number of connected devices will reach 20.8 billion. It is also astonishing that 85% of companies already have at least one cloud solution and that WAN bandwidth is growing by 30% every year. Providers will have to dress warmly if they want to meet customer requirements. Networks need to be expanded and upgraded to maintain customer satisfaction and keep the provider relevant. The WAN services that companies need to grow must be of high quality. Regardless of whether it is IP access, MPLS or Layer2 connections. Only then can data be transported reliably and securely in parallel with rising expectations. The principle of “Survival of the Fittest” or “of the Fastest” applies here for providers and end customers.

Regional clouds not automatically better

In addition to international players, many national and regional providers or system houses now offer cloud solutions. Interestingly, trust in these offerings is often higher than in international, specialized cloud providers. This is despite the fact that, compared to regional island providers, they have already been supporting the topic much longer and more comprehensively. The word “island” sums it up: it can quickly happen that you are separated from the rest of the world. What commercial company would consciously want to take the risk of being cut off from everything? Of course, you don’t have to and can’t put all your data in the cloud. However, it is worth seriously considering whether a company can outsource at least some areas to established providers. Especially when you consider that private individuals have already been doing this for a long time. Isn’t the public WAN basically a kind of cloud in which we transport our data?

Fast connection essential

It is essential that the company is connected to the respective cloud platforms, regardless of whether it is Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure or the Google Cloud platform. The principle here is “survival of the fastest”. It is not the bandwidth that is an important issue, the type of connection to the platform and the provider are also relevant. The latter should make it possible to choose the “type” of connection (Internet access, from the MPLS or Ethernet Layer 2). This is especially true when connecting the physical platform to a cloud environment. Most providers give customers the choice of where their cloud services should run. There are various locations to choose from, often including Dublin, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London or Tokyo. A local cloud location often not only offers better performance, but the targeted choice also makes it easy to comply with legal requirements. Flexibility is a buzzword that also applies to our advice and expertise. Just give us a call, I’m sure we’ll find a solution and the right provider for you to make your corporate network “one of the fittest”.
