Cloud telephony: how it works!

Why cloud telephony is the future

Efficient communication for modern companies

Digital collaboration is the backbone of successful companies. Cloud telephony enables location-independent communication, saves costs and increases productivity. Switching to IP-based systems makes telephony more flexible, scalable and future-proof.

The most important advantages at a glance:

The question: How well is your current telephony solution prepared for the requirements of modern, distributed teams?

Why switch to cloud telephony?

The quality of collaboration is a decisive factor for the success of any company. Employees, customers, partners: everyone must be able to communicate easily and quickly, regardless of their location. Cloud telephony is the solution. Flexibility, efficiency, cost optimization: this technology has it all. Let’s take a look at the numerous advantages and find out how you too can switch to a cloud telephone system.

Making calls in the cloud: what is it?

A telephone system that is hosted by the provider in a data center and is not located at your company’s premises. Your calls are then routed via the Internet and not via the conventional telephone line. Although the latter no longer exists in Germany anyway. Deutsche Telekom has already completely converted its analog and ISDN network to IP. The technology used in the backbone is therefore nothing new. The conventional telephone uses analog signals to transmit information which is then converted into digital IP packets in the backbone. With IP telephony, the voice is converted directly into small digital packets, which are then forwarded like web data. The whole process is coordinated by the telephone system, which is now located in the cloud and not on your premises.

Why go to the cloud with your company telephony?

Cost control: The company achieves considerable savings. The cloud telephony solution is generally billed at a flat rate per employee (per seat) including flat-rate telephony and no longer incurs any hardware, maintenance or fixed expansion costs for you.

Greater mobility: employees can access the services from anywhere as long as they have access to the internet. Cloud solutions are ideal for companies with multiple locations and for employees who frequently travel and/or work remotely.

Simplified administration: When you outsource your telephone system, you leave the administration in professional hands, giving you more time and resources for other activities.

Extended functions: Many software programs for telephony via the cloud enable the use of additional services. E.g. “Unified Communications”. This allows employees to access shared appointment calendars, video conferencing solutions or even instant messaging in your telephony app.

Transition to cloud telephony – how it works

If you are convinced of the many advantages of IP telephony, all you have to do is take the step and initiate your digital transformation. To make the migration a success, the following points should be considered:

Internet connection: It is important that your Internet connection is powerful enough to support an IP telephony solution. Remember to clarify this with Savecall or your network operator.

Number of extensions: In most cases, subscriptions offer a rate based on the number of users. Calculate their telephony requirements. Is a flat rate worthwhile?

Options: Landline telephony, mobile telephony, video conferencing, instant messaging… Think about the different functions you are interested in to choose the right package.

Devices: You can use IP telephones or use the application directly on your end devices (PC, cell phone, tablet). Are there users who need desktop devices and if so, how many? Do you need a DECT solution? Emergency man switches in production or are parts of the building controlled via the telephone? There are often challenges here that need to be considered.
