scalable, flexible, future-proof

Asterisk is a powerful, software-based telephone system that forms the basis of many modern VoIP systems. The open source solution supports common VoIP protocols and enables flexible and cost-efficient communication – without the need for a traditional ISDN infrastructure.

As Asterisk works as a pure software solution, there is no need for expensive hardware. The system can be obtained free of charge, customized and integrated into existing environments.

Advantages at a glance:

Problem: Traditional telephone systems are expensive, inflexible and dependent on additional hardware. Adaptations or extensions involve a great deal of effort.

Solution: With Asterisk, companies rely on a future-proof, customizable and high-performance basic system for VoIP communication.

Whether for 10 or 10,000 subscribers – Asterisk grows with your requirements and offers maximum control over your telephony. Only a minimal hardware upgrade is required to connect to the telephone network or end devices such as telephones and fax machines.

Features of a VoIP

From POTS to VoIP: All Asterisk variants

Two traders negotiating at a table, faces not visible, focus on movement and atmosphere.

VoIP Asterisk can be used as a VoIP gateway. This simplifies a smooth migration. Older hardware can continue to be used by establishing a link with your old telephone system. This means that existing telephones do not have to be decommissioned, but can also be connected. The connection to home offices can also be implemented using modern IP telephones. The advantage of this variant is that the employee can be reached at home on the same number as in the office but can also call customers on their office number. For the customer, the employee always calls from the office. It is no longer possible for the customer to see where the employee is currently located. The migration means that future telephones can be purchased on an IP basis. Both telephone networks run in parallel during the Asterisk transition phase. However, incoming calls are always forwarded to Asterisk. Asterisk forwards outgoing calls to the telephone system.

Possible variants

VoIP Asterisk can only be implemented via the network with VoIP end devices and the VoIP telephone provider without the corresponding equipment. An important part of Asterisk is the numbering plan.
