class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Southeast Asia-Japan Cable System (SJC) is a high-capacity cable that connects Japan directly with Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Brunei and China. It was deliberately routed across the Philippine Sea to avoid the earthquake-prone zones north of the Philippines. The route is considered one of the most resilient intra-Asian connections. With six fiber pairs and 28 Tbit\/s capacity, SJC offers a direct low-latency connection between Japan and the Southeast Asian region. At the Japanese landing point Chikura, SJC is directly connected to the transatlantic Unity cable, which enables particularly low latencies on the Singapore-Los Angeles route    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Route &amp; connection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SJC connects Chikura (Japan) with Shantou (China), Chung Hom Kok (Hong Kong), Nasugbu\/Batangas (Philippines), Telisai (Brunei) and Tuas (Singapore) as well as an optional extension to Songkhla (Thailand). The basic configuration comprises seven cable landing stations in six countries. The cable spans 8,900 kilometers and entered service on June 27, 2013. Across six fiber pairs, SJC reaches a design capacity of 28 Tbit\/s.
